WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Mercury Villager. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Test front wiper motor. See WIPER MOTOR  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace wiper motor as necessary. If wiper motor is okay, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Front Wiper/Washer Amplifier (FWWA) 6-pin connector and wiper motor connector. Measure resistance of Red wire between FWWA wiring harness 6-pin connector and wiper motor wiring harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Red wire.
  3. Measure resistance of Black wire between ground and wiper motor wiring harness connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace FWWA. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire.
