Power Steering System Bleeding
- Remove the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relay to disable the vehicle. See Fig 1 .
- Fill the power steering pump reservoir. Use WSA-M2C195-A or MERCON(R) M931264 EC type fluid.
- Crank the engine with the starter motor and add fluid until the level remains constant.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- While cranking the engine, rotate the steering wheel from lock to lock.
- Check the fluid level and add fluid if necessary.
- Install the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relay. See Fig 1
.NOTE: PCM relay is located in engine compartment fuse box. Engine compartment fuse box is in left front of engine compartment.
- Start the engine and allow it to run for several minutes.
- Rotate the steering wheel from lock to lock.
- Turn off the engine and check the fluid level. Add fluid if necessary.
- Lower the vehicle.
NOTE:
The starter should not be operated for more than 10-15 seconds at a time.
NOTE:
Front wheels must be off the floor during lock-to-lock rotation of the steering wheel.
CAUTION:
Do not hold the steering wheel against the stops for an extended period of time. Damage to the pump can occur.
