Electronically Coded Ignition Key

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

When ignition switch is moved from ACC position to RUN position with electronically coded ignition key, the passive anti-theft receiver antenna at the ignition lock cylinder energizes the electronically coded ignition key. When electronically coded ignition key is energized, passive anti-theft receiver antenna receives a signal from the ignition key and transfers the signal to the Steering Column/Ignition/Lighting (SCIL) module.
