Fuel Level Always Reads Empty
- Fuel Level Sensor Check - Perform FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT TEST under COMPONENT TESTS. If necessary, replace sending unit (fuel level sensor). If sending unit is okay, go to next step.
- Fuel Gauge Check - Perform FUEL GAUGE TEST under COMPONENT TESTS. If necessary, replace fuel gauge. If fuel gauge is okay, go to next step.
- Fuel Gauge Ground Circuit Check - Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster C209 (White) connector. Check resistance between instrument cluster connector C209 terminal A9 (Black/Yellow wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair open in Black/Yellow wire.
- Fuel Level Sensor Ground Check - Turn ignition off. Disconnect fuel tank assembly connector (under rear seat cushion). Check resistance between ground and Black/Yellow wire at fuel tank assembly connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair open in Black/Yellow wire.
- Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Check - Ensure instrument cluster C209 (White) connector is disconnected. Check resistance of Yellow/White wire between instrument cluster connector C209 terminal A4 and fuel tank assembly connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster printed circuit board. If resistance is not as specified, repair open in Yellow/White wire.
