Charging System Warning Never/Always On

  1. Bulb Check  - Turn ignition off. Remove charging system indicator bulb from instrument cluster. Ensure continuity exists between bulb terminals. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, replace bulb.
  2. Generator Indicator Circuit Check  - Turn ignition off. Disconnect wiring harness connector from generator. Turn ignition on and ground Brown wire at generator connector. If charging system indicator illuminates, repair charging system. If charging system indicator does not illuminate, go to next step.
  3. Indicator Circuit Check  - Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster C210 (Black) connector. Check resistance between instrument cluster connector C210 terminal B8 (Brown wire) and ground. Check resistance of Brown wire between instrument cluster connector C210 terminal B8 and generator. If resistance is greater than 10,000 ohms between instrument cluster and ground, and less than 5 ohms between instrument cluster and generator, replace instrument cluster printed circuit board. If resistances are not as specified, repair Brown wire.
