Disabling System

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect positive battery cable. Wait one minute. This is the time required for back-up power supply in diagnostic monitor to deplete its stored energy.
  2. Remove 2 steering wheel back cover plugs. Remove bolts and washers retaining driver-side air bag module to steering wheel. Disconnect driver-side air bag module connector. Attach Air Bag Simulator (Rotunda 105-00010) to air bag connector to simulate air bag.
  3. To disable passenger-side air bag, open glove box and remove damping rod on right side of glove box. Pull left side of glove box in, and lower glove box toward floor. Remove air duct screws and air duct.
  4. Remove 2 vertical bolts from bottom of air bag module. Remove 2 horizontal bolts attaching air bag module to instrument panel frame. Gently push air bag module from back through instrument panel opening to access air bag module connector. Disconnect air bag module connector.
  5. Carefully remove air bag module and place it on bench, with trim cover facing up. Attach Air Bag Simulator (Rotunda 105-00010) to air bag connector to simulate air bag. If testing or vehicle operation is required, connect positive battery cable, then connect negative battery cable.
