Pinpoint Test D - Automatic Locking System Diagnosis

  1. Connect scan tester to DLC. Using scan tester, select PID BOO_RAP. Scan tester should read OFF. Press brake pedal. Scan tester should read ON. If scan tester is as specified, go to next step. If scan tester is not as specified, go to step 5).
  2. Disconnect Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) module C1 connector. Press brake pedal. Measure voltage between ground and pin No. 26 (Red/Light Green wire) terminal. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace RAP module. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  3. Press and hold brake pedal. If brakelights come on, repair open circuit in Red/Light Green wire. If brakelights do not come on, repair as necessary.
  4. Leave scan tester connected to DLC. Using scan tester, select PID DOOR_RAP. With all doors and liftgate (if equipped) closed, scan tester should read CLOSED. Open any door. Scan tester should read AJAR. If scan tester display is not as specified, go to next step. If scan tester display is as specified, go to step 7).
  5. Disconnect Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) module C1 connector. Disconnect Generic Electronic Module (GEM) C2 connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and Light Blue/White wire terminal. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or less, repair Light Blue/White wire circuit short to ground.
  6. With scan tester connected to DLC, turn ignition on. Retrieve stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from GEM. If DTC B1322, B1330, B1334, B1338 or B1574 are present, check for short circuit to door ajar switch. If specified DTCs are not present, replace RAP module and retest system.
  7. Leave scan tester connected to DLC. Using scan tester, select PID IGN_RAP. With ignition off, scan tester should indicate OFF. Turn ignition to RUN position. Scan tester should indicate RUN/ACC. If scan tester display is not as specified, go to next step. If scan tester display is as specified, replace RAP module.
  8. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) module C1 connector. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and pin No. 25 (Black/Pink wire) terminal. If voltage is less than 5 volts, replace RAP module and retest system. If voltage is 5 volts or more, repair Black/Pink wire circuit short to power.
  9. Turn ignition to RUN position. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and Black/Pink wire terminal. If battery voltage is present, replace RAP module and retest system. If battery voltage is not present, repair Black/Pink wire open circuit.
