Low Oil Level Indicator Never/Always On
- If LOW OIL warning is always on, go to next step. If LOW OIL warning is never on, go to step 4).
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect cluster connectors C1 and C2. See Figure and Figure . Reconnect negative battery cable. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Disconnect low oil level relay. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance from ground to circuit No. 208 (Gray wire). If resistance is less than one ohm, repair circuit No. 208 (Gray wire) for short to ground and retest system. If resistance is more than one ohm, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. With an ohmmeter, check continuity between cluster connector C2, pins No. 10 and 11 and ground. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms repair instrument cluster printed circuit flex connector for short to ground. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step.
- Connect wiring connector circuit No. 208 (Gray wire) to ground. If indicator light illuminates, inspect and repair wiring as necessary and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If indicator does not light, go to next step.
- Check voltage at output side of fuse No. 15. See Figure . If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If voltage is not present, replace fuse No. 15.
- Check voltage at input side of fuse No. 15. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If voltage is not present, repair open in wiring to fuse No. 15 and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check for continuity between instrument cluster printed circuit connections on printed circuit C2, pins No. 10 and 11. If continuity exists between cluster flex connections, inspect and repair wiring as necessary and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity is not present, repair instrument cluster printed circuit or indicator light and retest system.
