Speedometer/Odometer Inoperative
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect VSS connector. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check resistance between cluster connector C2, pins No. 6 (White/Blue wire) and No. 1 (White/Blue Wire) of VSS harness connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair circuit No. 8 (White/Blue wire) for open.
- Measure resistance between cluster connector C1, pin No. 13 (Black wire) and ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair circuit No. 31 (Black wire) for open and retest circuit.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Check for voltage between cluster connector C1, pin No. 7 (Orange wire) and ground. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair circuit No. 29 (Orange wire) for open and retest.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Check continuity between cluster connector C2, pin No. 6 (White/Blue wire) and center pin of speedometer printed circuit. If there is 5 ohms or less resistance, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace printed circuit board and retest. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Check resistance between cluster connector C1, pin No. 7 (Orange wire) and right head pin of speedometer printed circuit. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace printed circuit board and retest system.
- Check resistance from cluster connector C1, pin No. 13 (Black wire) and left pin of speedometer printed circuit. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace speedometer and retest system. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace printed circuit board and retest system.
