Test J: Traction Control Motor Inoperative

NOTE: This test is associated with the following DTCs: C1451, C1452, C1453, C1491, C1492 and C1493.
  1. Check For Voltage To Traction Control Motor Disconnect traction control motor 2-pin connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Check for voltage between ground and Green/Yellow wire at traction control motor 2-pin connector. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, go to step 3).
  2. Check Circuit Resistance Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect ABS control module 22-pin connector C132 and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) 8-pin connector C130 (located below brake master cylinder). Connect Breakout Box (007-00033) and Adapter (007-00115). Check resistance between test pins No. 28 and 32 at breakout box. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 7). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to step 5).
  3. Check ABS Warning Indicator If connected, remove breakout box and adapters. Reconnect ABS control module 22-pin connector C132 and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) 8-pin connector C130. Ensure all connections are clean and tight. Start engine and observe ABS warning light. If after 5-10 seconds, ABS warning light stays on, replace ABS relay and go to next step. If after 5-10 seconds, ABS warning light turns off, fault was intermittent. No further testing is required at this time. Clear all codes.
  4. Check ABS Control Module Start engine and observe ABS warning light. If after 5-10 seconds, ABS warning light stays on, replace HCU. If after 5-10 seconds, ABS warning light turns off, fault was corrected by replacing relay in step 3). Clear codes.
  5. Check For Open In Circuit No. 15S Disconnect 2-pin connector from TCS throttle control unit at right front of engine compartment. Check resistance between breakout box test pin No. 28 and terminal No. 1 (Green/Yellow wire) of 2-pin connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Green/Yellow wire. Clear codes and retest.
  6. Check For Open In Circuit No. 31S Check resistance between breakout box test pin No. 32 and terminal No. 2 (Black/Yellow wire) of TCS throttle control unit 2-pin connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace traction control motor. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Black/Yellow wire. Clear codes and retest.
  7. Check For Short To Ground In Circuit No. 15S Check resistance between test pins No. 5 and 28 at breakout box. If resistance is 10k/ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10k/ohms, repair short to ground in Green/Yellow wire between TCS throttle control unit 2-pin connector and ABS control module.
  8. Check For Short To Ground In Circuit No. 31S Check resistance between test pins No. 5 and 32 at breakout box. If resistance is 10k/ohms or more, replace TCS throttle control unit. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Yellow wire between TCS throttle control unit 2-pin connector and ABS control module. Reconnect all components. Clear codes and retest.
