Test A: Abs Warning Light Never On

  1. Check Circuit No. 14 Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Check voltage between ground and output side of ELECTRONICS (7.5-amp) fuse cavity (Purple/Yellow wire). If voltage is 10 volts or more, install fuse and go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, check condition of ELECTRONICS (7.5-amp) fuse. Replace if necessary. If fuse is okay, repair wiring between fuse block and ignition switch.
  2. Check Circuit No. 31 Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect ABS control module 22-pin connector C132 and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) 8-pin connector C130 (located below brake master cylinder). Connect Breakout Box (007-00033) and Adapter (007-00115). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a jumper wire between test pins No. 25 and 27 at breakout box. If ABS warning light is off, go to next step. If ABS warning light is on, go to step 6).
  3. Check Circuit No. 31 Output Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Check resistance between test pin No. 27 at breakout box and terminal No. 2 at instrument cluster 10-pin connector C290. See Fig 1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black/Red wire. Reconnect all components and retest system.
  4. Check ABS Warning Indicator Bulb Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove and inspect ABS warning indicator bulb. Instrument cluster may have to be removed to access bulb. If bulb is okay, go to next step. If bulb is blown, replace bulb and repeat step 2).
  5. Check Voltage Input To Bulb Turn ignition switch to RUN position. With bulb removed, check voltage between ground and terminal No. 5 at instrument cluster 10-pin connector C290. See Fig 1. If battery voltage is present, repair circuit No. 31S (Black/Blue or Black/Red wire) between instrument cluster and terminal No. 22 at ABS control module connector. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Purple or Purple/Yellow wire. Reconnect all components. Clear DTCs and repeat step 2).
  6. Check ABS Warning Indicator If still connected, remove breakout box and adapter. Reconnect ABS control module 22-pin connector C132 and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) 8-pin connector C130. Ensure all connections are clean and tight. Turn ignition switch to RUN position and observe ABS warning light. If ABS warning light is illuminated for 3 seconds, fault is intermittent. No further testing is required at this time. Clear all codes and retest system. If ABS warning light is not illuminated for 3 seconds, replace HCU.
