Test H: Abs Control Pump Motor Diagnosis

NOTE: This test is associated with DTC C1095.
  1. Check ABS Pump Motor (With Ignition Off) Turn ignition switch to OFF position. With vehicle in a quiet area, listen to ABS pump motor. If pump motor does not run continuously, go to step 3). If pump motor runs continuously, replace ABS relay and go to next step.
  2. Check ABS Pump Motor (Engine Running) Start engine. Again, listen to ABS pump motor. If pump motor runs continuously, replace Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). If pump motor does not run continuously, repair made in step 1) has corrected problem. Clear codes and retest system.
  3. Check ABS Operation Drive vehicle a minimum of 26 MPH, and observe ABS warning light. If ABS light is off, repair made in step 2) has corrected problem. If ABS warning light is on, go to next step.
  4. Check Fuse Remove and inspect ABS/HEATER BLOWER (60-amp) fuse and ABS (30-amp) fuse from engine compartment fuse block. If fuses are blown, go to next step. If fuses are okay, go to step 6).
  5. Check For Short To Ground Disconnect Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) 8-pin connector C130. Check resistance individually between ground and output side of ABS/HEATER BLOWER fuse cavity (Red/Yellow wire) and ABS fuse cavity (Orange/Yellow wire). If resistances are 10 k/ohms or more, install fuses and go to next step. If resistances are less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in appropriate wire(s).
  6. Check For Open Circuit Check resistance between output side of ABS/HEATER BLOWER fuse cavity (Red/Yellow wire) and test pin No. 30 at breakout box. Check resistance between output side of ABS fuse cavity (Orange/Yellow wire) and test pin No. 29 at breakout box. If resistances are 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistances are more than 5 ohms, repair appropriate wire(s). Clear codes and go to step 8).
  7. Check ABS Control Module Reconnect all components and clear all codes. Drive vehicle a minimum of 26 MPH, and observe ABS warning light. If ABS light is on, replace ABS relay and go to next step. If ABS light is off, repair made in step 6) has corrected problem. Clear codes and retest system.
  8. Check ABS Control Module Drive vehicle a minimum of 26 MPH, and observe ABS warning light. If ABS light is on, replace HCU. If ABS light is off, repair made in step 7) has corrected problem. Clear codes and retest system.
