Using New Generation Star (NGS) Scan Tool

  1. Turn ignition off. Select appropriate program card for vehicle. With NGS (007-00500) tool facing away from you, insert card into slot in back of tool. Plug power cable into cigarette lighter. Locate Data Link Connector (DLC) under instrument panel, to left of steering column. Connect NGS tool to DLC. Perform the following to retrieve codes:
    • Select vehicle and year.
    • Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
    • At first screen, press TRIGGER to page forward.
    • At next screen, select DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK. Press TRIGGER.
    • At next screen, select ABS-ANTILOCK BRAKE MODULE. Press TRIGGER.
    • At next screen, select DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODES. Press TRIGGER.
    • At next screen, select RETRIEVE/CLEAR CONTINUOUS DTCS. Press TRIGGER.
    • At next screen, press START button.
  2. Trouble codes should now be displayed. Record codes in order received. These codes indicate current faults in system and should be serviced in order of appearance. Perform appropriate TROUBLE CODE TEST under TROUBLE CODE TESTS .
