Shift Indicator Cable

  1. Remove steering column release lever (if equipped). Remove ignition lock cylinder. Remove upper and lower steering column covers. Place shift control selector in OVERDRIVE (DRIVE on vehicles equipped with transmission control switch) position.
  2. Hold shift lever against rear of stop with a constant force of about 3 lbs. (1.4 kg). Loosen shift indicator cable retaining screw. Rotate thumbwheel until pointer is centered in appropriate position. Tighten retaining screw.
  3. Cycle shift control selector through all gears to ensure proper operation. Install upper and lower steering column covers. Install ignition lock cylinder and steering column release lever (if equipped).
