Test B: All Doors Do Not Lock

  1. Check fuse No. 37 (20-amp). If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, inspect wiring for short. Repair as necessary and replace fuse, then retest system.
  2. Using New Generation Star (NGS) scan tester, retrieve continuous DTC's and perform on demand self test. See GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM) article. If DTC B1342 is retrieved, replace GEM. If continuous and self test DTC B1318 is retrieved, service charging system to correct low-voltage condition. If self test DTC B1396 is retrieved, replace door switch shorted in LOCK position. If self test DTC B1397 is retrieved, replace door switch shorted in UNLOCK position. If no DTC's are retrieved, go to next step.
  3. Using New Generation Star (NGS) scan tester, read PID LFDRLCK. DO NOT  press switch before reading PID. If display indicates LOCK, repair short to battery in Pink/Black or Pink/Orange wire between keyless entry control module and door lock motor. If display does not indicate LOCK, go to next step.
  4. Using New Generation Star (NGS) scan tester, read PID LFDRLCK. DO NOT  press switch before reading PID. If display indicates LOCK, repair short to battery in switch or Pink/Black wire between keyless entry control module and door lock motor. If display indicates UNLOCK, repair short to battery in switch or Pink/Orange wire between keyless entry control module and door lock motor. If display indicates OFF, go to next step.
  5. When a button is pressed, display should indicate either LOCK or UNLOCK, depending on which switch is pressed. When button is released, display should return to OFF. Perform test on drivers LOCK and UNLOCK buttons and observe display. If any buttons did not perform as described, repair open in Pink/Black or Pink/Orange wires between GEM, switch, and lock motor. If display performed as described, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect battery ground cable. Using ohmmeter, check Black/White wire for open or short to ground between memory lock relay and fuse. Check Red/Orange wire for open between driver's switch and keyless entry control module. Repair as necessary.
