Test A: Memory Door Lock Does Not Work
- Check fuse No. 36 (20-amp). Check all connections for clean tight fit. Check for loose or damaged wiring. If fuses and wiring are okay, go to next step. If fuse(s) are blown or wiring is faulty, replace or service as necessary and go to next step.
- Using New Generation Star (NGS) scan tester, retrieve continuous DTC's and perform on demand self test. See GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM)
article. If DTC B1342 is retrieved, replace GEM. If self test DTC B1335 is retrieved, sliding door switch stuck open. Replace switch. If continuous and self test DTC B1392 is retrieved, go to next step. If continuous and self test DTC B1394 is retrieved, repair short to battery in Red/Black wire between GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE (GEM) and memory lock relay. If no DTC's are retrieved, go to step 5).
- Disconnect memory lock relay, and check continuity between relay terminals corresponding to relay connector Black/White and Red/Black wires. See Fig 1
. If continuity is present, go to next step. If there is no continuity, replace memory lock relay
- Check for continuity in Red/Black wire between memory lock relay connector and ground. If continuity is present, repair short to ground in Red/Black wire. If there is no continuity, check for open circuit in Red/Black wire between GEM and memory lock relay.
- Open sliding door. Using New Generation Star (NGS) scan tester, read PID RRDR-SW. If display indicates door is closed, repair short to ground in Black/White wire between GEM and sliding door switch. If display indicates door is open, go to next step.
- Close sliding door. Using New Generation Star (NGS) scan tester, read PID RRDR-SW. If display indicates door is open, repair open in Black/White wire between GEM and sliding door switch, or open in Black wire between switch and ground. If display indicates door is closed, go to next step.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Check for continuity in Red wire between memory lock relay and sliding door lock motor. Check contacts and connections for opens or looseness. Repair as necessary. If there is continuity in Red wire, and contacts and connections are okay, go to next step.
- Inspect sliding door lock motor. If motor has open winding, replace motor. If motor is okay, check memory lock relay for open coil. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
