Test C: All Windows Inoperative

  1. Inspect fuse J (60 Amp) in engine compartment fuse box. Inspect all connections for contamination, looseness or damage. If any problems are found, repair as necessary. If fuse and all connections are okay, go to next step.
  2. Install NGS scan tester, retrieve continuous codes, and perform on demand self test. See GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE article.
    • If self test DTC B1302 and continuous DTC B1398 retrieved, go to next step.
    • If self test and continuous DTC B1398 and self test B1304 are retrieved, repair short to power along Purple wire between delayed accessory relay and GEM connector C233 terminal 8. See Figure .
    • If self test and continuous DTC B1398 is retrieved, go to step 5).
    • If self test and continuous DTC B1398 and continuous DTC B1404 are retrieved, repair short to ground along Orange wire between one touch down relay and GEM connector C233 terminal
  3. See Figure .
    • If continuous DTC B1404 is retrieved, go to step 12).
    • If self test DTC B1405 is retrieved, go to step 13).
    • If self test DTC B1408 is retrieved replace open LH window switch.
    • If self test and continuous DTC B1410 is retrieved, go to step 14). If continuous DTC B1478 is retrieved, go to step 18).
    • If self test DTC B1408 and continuous DTC B1478 are retrieved, repair short to power along White/black wire between LH window motor and GEM connector C234 terminal 1.
    • If none of the above DTC's were retrieved, go to step 19).
  4. Check for battery voltage on Light Green/yellow wire at delayed accessory relay. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Light Green/Yellow wire or interior light circuit.
  5. Disconnect delayed accessory relay and check for continuity across relay coil winding. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Replace coil if there is no continuity. If coil is okay, repair open in Purple wire between relay and GEM connector C233 terminal 8. See Figure .
  6. Check for battery voltage on Yellow/Light Green wire at delayed accessory relay. If battery voltage is present, go to step 10). If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
  7. Check for open in Yellow/Light Green wire between fuse J (60 Amp) in engine compartment fuse box and delayed accessory relay. Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, go to next step.
  8. Check for battery voltage at input terminal of fuse position J. Check that there is continuity between fuse terminals. Repair as necessary. If fuse and power supply are okay, go to next step.
  9. Check for short to ground in wire between battery and fuse J in engine compartment fuse box. See POWER DISTRIBUTION wiring diagrams in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, go to next step.
  10. Check continuity to ground along Yellow/Light Green wire between fuse J and delayed accessory relay. Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, go to next step.
  11. Check for open in the following wires:
    • Yellow/Red wire between delayed accessory relay and I/P fuse 34 (30 Amp).
    • Light Blue/Black wire between I/P fuse 34 (30 Amp) and LH power window switch.
    • Pink wire between I/P fuse 40 (30 Amp) and LH power window switch.

Repair as necessary. If all wires are okay, go to next step.

  12. Check for short to ground in the following wires:
    • Yellow/Red wire between delayed accessory relay and I/P fuse 34 (30 Amp).
    • Light Blue/Black wire between I/P fuse 34 (30 Amp) and LH power window switch.
    • Pink wire between I/P fuse 40 (30 Amp) and LH power window switch.

Repair as necessary. If all wires are okay, check delayed accessory relay for stuck open contacts.

  13. isconnect negative battery terminal. Check continuity in Tan/Black (or Tan/Red) wire between one touch down relay and current sense resistor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, check one touch down relay for open contacts.
  14. Disconnect negative battery terminal. Check resistance of current sense wire. Resistance should be .015 Ohms +/- .001 Ohms. Replace wire if resistance is not as specified. If resistance is as specified, go to next step.
  15. Disconnect negative battery terminal. Check one touch down relay for shorted contacts, and replace relay as necessary. If relay is okay, check that LH power window switch is not stuck open. See SWITCH TEST (MASTER)  under COMPONENT TESTS.
  16. Check for continuity on Tan/Black wire between current sense wire and LH power window motor. Repair as necessary. If continuity is present, go to next step.
  17. Check for continuity on White/Black wire between LH power window motor and GEM connector C234 terminal 1. Repair as necessary. If continuity is present, go to next step.
  18. Reconnect all connectors and battery terminal. Attempt to operate one touch down feature. If window one touch down feature operates, perform wiggle test using scan tester to isolate intermittent faults. If window one touch down feature does not operate, check window motor for open windings.
  19. Disconnect negative battery terminal. Check continuity of Yellow wire between LH power window switch and one touch down relay. Repair as necessary. If continuity is present, repair open in Yellow wire between one touch relay and GEM connector C234 terminal 12.
  20. Disconnect negative battery terminal. Check for continuity between all LH power window switch Black wires and ground. If continuity is not present, repair open in affected Black wire or poor ground connection at left kick panel. If continuity is present, check switch for open. See SWITCH TEST (MASTER)  under COMPONENT TESTS.
