Testing (Pinpoint Tests): Notes
WARNING:
Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation involving steering column components. Refer to the AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM

apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
CAUTION:
When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES
article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
Check battery is fully charged (if not, it may be the problem). Disconnect and reconnect battery to retest system. DO NOT replace parts unless test results say they should be replaced. To test and service remote keyless entry system, review SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS Perform pinpoint tests only when instructed to by SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS . Repair only as specified in tests. When pinpoint tests are completed, repeat SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS to ensure system is operational.
NOTE:
Keep driver's window rolled down when performing pinpoint tests to avoid getting locked out of vehicle.
