Function Control Cable

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Ford Ranger. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Slide function control lever to its maximum left and right positions. Function control lever should reach detents on both ends of travel. Ensure proper airflow exists in each lever position.
  2. If function control cable requires adjustment, squeeze glove box sides together to disengage tabs. Door will hang freely. Working through glove box opening, remove cable housing from metal clip on top of plenum by depressing clip tab. Pull cable out of clip.
  3. Leave core wire end loop attached to function control cam on plenum. Move control lever to DEFROST position and hold it there. Pull on cable jacket until cam travel stops. Reinstall cable housing to clip by pushing it from top until it snaps into place.
