3.0L & 3.8L
- Ensure engine is at operating temperature. Turn all accessories
off. Put shift selector in Park or Neutral position. Set parking
brake. Vehicle front wheels must be in straight-ahead position.
Connect timing light to engine. Locate and disconnect single in-line
Spark Output (SPOUT) connector, located near ignition control module.
See IGNITION CONTROL MODULE (ICM) LOCATION table.
- With engine at idle RPM, check ignition timing. See V6 BASE
IGNITION TIMING table for specification. Turn engine off. Reconnect
in-line SPOUT connector. Check computed ignition timing. Computed
ignition timing should be advanced beyond base timing.
