Pinpoint Test B - Headlights On Continuously

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect headlight relay. Apply battery power to terminals No. 1 and 2 of relay. See Figure . Measure voltage at terminal No. 4 of relay with terminal No. 3 open and grounded. With terminal No. 3 grounded, voltage at terminal No. 4 should be more than 10 volts. With terminal No. 3 open, voltage at terminal No. 4 should be less than 1 volt. If voltages are correct, go to next step. If voltages are not correct, replace headlight relay.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 6-pin and 14-pin connectors at combination switch. Measure resistance between terminals with the switch in the listed positions. See COMBINATION SWITCH RESISTANCE  table under PINPOINT TEST A. Go to next step.
  3. Measure resistance between White/Red wire (terminal 8A) and Black wire (terminal 3A) on 14-pin combination switch connector with switch in off, parking and headlight positions. Resistance readings should be greater than 10,000 ohms with switch in off and parking positions. Resistance reading should be less than 5 ohms with switch in headlight position. If resistance readings in steps 2) and 3) are okay, repair White/Red wire between relay and switch. If any resistance reading is not to specification, replace combination switch.
