Overhaul - A4LD: Identification
The A4LD 4-speed automatic transmission can be identified by the Safety Standard Certification label. Label is located on driver's door lock pillar. Transmission code on label is under TRANS designation. The code for automatic 4-speed transmission is "L" for Mustang, "T" for all other models.
Automatic transmissions are also equipped with service identification tags. See Fig 1 . Tag is attached to lower left side extension housing bolt. Top line of tag shows transmission model number and line shift code. Bottom line on tag shows build date code.
