Pinpoint Test D - Improper Up/Down Lift Operation

  1. Operation Check  - Unplug seat motor connector. Connect jumper wire to battery voltage. Connect a second jumper wire to ground. Connect jumper leads to pins No. 3 and 5. See Figure . See POWER SEAT SWITCH CIRCUIT FUNCTION TEST table. Observe seat operation. Reverse leads. Seat should move in opposite direction. Connect jumper leads to pins No. 4 and 6. See Figure . Observe motor operation. Reverse leads. Seat should move in opposite direction. If seat does not operate as specified, replace motor assembly. If seat operates correctly, leave jumper wire connected to power supply and go to next step.
    NOTE: If vehicle is equipped with separate front power seats, repeat operation check procedure on passenger's seat.
  2. Circuit Check  - Reconnect power seat motor connector. Unplug power seat switch connector. Connect a jumper wire to battery voltage. Connect a second jumper wire to ground. Momentarily touch a jumper wire to pin No. 4 of switch connector. See Figure . Connect remaining jumper wire to pin No. 8. Observe seat operation. Reverse jumper connections. Seat should move in opposite direction. See POWER SEAT SWITCH CIRCUIT FUNCTION TEST table. Repeat test on pins No. 6 and 7. If seat operates properly, reconnect switch and retest system. If seat does not operate properly, repair suspect circuit. Reconnect switch and retest system.
