Symptom Checks

Check the following items:

• Perform QUICK TEST. See G - EEC-IV TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. If code is present, perform appropriate CIRCUIT TEST.
• Check ignition system. On models with Distributor Ignition (DI), perform CIRCUIT TEST AA. See G - EEC-IV TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. On 3.8L SC, 3.0L SHO, 3.2L SHO, and 2.3L OHC, perform CIRCUIT TEST AB. On all other models, perform CIRCUIT TEST AC.
• Check for restricted exhaust system.
• Check engine compression. Check engine mechanical condition. Check intake manifold, manifold gasket, camshaft and valves.
