Description & Operation
The remote keyless entry system consists of the control module located behind quarter trim panel, antenna, hand-held transmitter and necessary wiring. The control module performs the following functions:
- Unlocks front doors, rear doors and liftgate and locks all doors.
- Turns on interior and key hole lights.
- Arms and disarms anti-theft system, if equipped.
- Activates security feature to sound horn and flash exterior lights.
- Activates battery saver, which removes power from courtesy lights 45 minutes after last input to control module.
The remote entry system receives inputs from the following:
- Ignition switch
- Door lock switches
- Door ajar switches
- Courtesy lamp switch
- Program connector
- Transmitter
Control module sends outputs to the following:
- Courtesy lights
- Door lock actuators
- Keyhole illumination
- Horn relay and bracket
- Anti-theft module (if equipped)
- Autolamp relay (if equipped)
To unlock driver's door, press UNLOCK button on transmitter. This will also disarm anti-theft system. To unlock all doors and liftgate, press UNLOCK button twice, within 5 seconds of each other. To turn on interior lights and key hole illumination, press UNLOCK or PANIC button. To lock all doors, press LOCK button once. This will also arm anti-theft system. To confirm that all doors are locked, press LOCK button again. Horn will beep and doors will lock again. To activate security alarm, press PANIC button. Horn will beep and exterior lights will flash for a maximum of 3 minutes. To deactivate security alarm, press PANIC button again, or turn ignition switch on.
