Idle Adjustment Procedure (Diesel Engines)

  1. Shift transmission to Neutral or Park. Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Measure idle speed with transmission in Neutral (M/T) or Drive (A/T). Ensure curb idle adjustment screw is against stop.
  2. Connect tachometer. Measure curb idle speed. Idle speed should be 600-700 RPM. Rotate adjuster screw to adjust idle speed. See Figure. Repeat check, and adjust again if necessary.
