Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Adjustment

NOTE: Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is not adjustable. Refer to appropriate procedure as follows to isolate and correct cause of an out-of-calibration sensor.
NOTE: For 1.8L M/T throttle position switch procedures and specifications, see CIRCUIT TEST STG in G - EEC TESTS W/ CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
  1. Connect Breakout Box (T83L-50-EEC-IV), leaving ECA disconnected. Connect digital voltmeter positive lead to test pin No. 47 and negative voltmeter lead to test pin No. 46. Turn ignition on. Slowly depress accelerator pedal. Check voltmeter reading and compare it to specification in TPS VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. If voltage is not as specified, ensure throttle stop screw and linkage are adjusted correctly. See Figure . Remove sensor. Check sensor for damaged, corroded or misadjusted pins. If pins are okay, install sensor. Ensure sensor is seated correctly. Repeat step 1). If voltage is not as specified, replace sensor and perform KOEO self-test. See G - EEC IV TESTS W/ CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
