Fuel Gauge Testing
- Unplug fuel tank sending unit connector. Fuel tank sending unit connector is located at front of fuel tank. Connect one lead of Gauge System Tester (Rotunda 021-00055) to Yellow wire terminal of fuel tank sending unit connector. Connect other lead to ground. See TESTING FUEL GAUGE illustration.
- Set tester to specified resistance values. See FUEL GAUGE RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS table. Turn ignition on. Observe fuel gauge. Continue inspection for 2 minutes at each setting to correctly judge accuracy of gauge.
- Allowable error is twice width of fuel gauge needle. If fuel gauge indicates correctly, go to FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT CHECK. If fuel gauge does not indicate correctly, replace instrument cluster assembly.
