Speedometer Erratic Or Pointer Waves

  1. Check speedometer head for correct attachment. If connections are bad, repair or replace.
  2. Check speedometer cable for kinks or bends in routing. Disconnect cable at drive end and check that square drive tip is not worn. Replace cable if damaged. Reroute cable if bends are minor. Check for proper connection at drive end.
  3. Check driven gear(s) for wear or slipping. Replace gear(s) if damaged.
  4. Disconnect cable and check core for kinks, burrs or bent tips. Install core and turn by hand checking for rough or irregular motion. Replace cable if damaged. If cable is okay, replace speedometer head.
