Wiper/Washer Systems: Description
The 2-speed permanent magnet windshield wiper motor uses a 3-brush assembly. On Bronco and "F" Series vehicles, low speed is accomplished by using White wire brush and ground brush. High speed circuit uses Blue/Orange wire brush and grounded brush. On "E" Series, the grounded Yellow wire brush and Blue wire brush are used for low speed operation. High speed circuit uses White/Orange wire brush and grounded brush.
Interval operation is controlled by a variable resistor, mounted in wiper control switch. This variable resistor works with electronic governor to control variable pause operation. The resistor controls current going to electronic governor. Washer system consists of a control switch incorporated into wiper switch, a reservoir and motor assembly, nozzles and connecting hoses.
On Bronco and "F" Series, circuit breaker is located in wiper control switch on systems using rotary-type switch. On "E" Series, circuit breaker is fuse panel-mounted for systems using slide control switch. Amperage ratings for rotary and slide circuit breakers are 7 and 7.5 amps, respectively.
