Suspension - Front: Description
The MacPherson strut front suspension consists of single wishbone control arms with ball joints, cast steering knuckles and a stabilizer bar.
The lower ball joints are pressed into wide stance control arms, which are supported by rubber bushings at chassis subframe. The front hub and wheel bearings mount inside the steering knuckle.
A Programmed Ride Control (PRC) system is optional. The PRC actuator bolts to the strut mounting block, which houses a rubber mounted strut bearing. The upper end of the coil spring rides in a heavy rubber seat. If the vehicle is not equipped with PRC, the struts are conventional and cannot be interchanged with PRC struts. For more information, see PROGRAMMED RIDE CONTROL article in this section.
