Ball Joint Checking

Raise vehicle so wheels hang freely. Grasp tire by top and bottom edges and move wheel assembly in and out. Any movement between lower end of knuckle and control arm indicates ball joint wear and requires replacement of lower control arm assembly. Check for loose nuts or bolts before replacing control arm.

The ball joint is NOT serviceable and must be replaced with lower control arm assembly. Only the ball joint dust boot is replaceable.
