EGR Control Solenoid
Solenoid controls vacuum passage to EGR valve. The solenoid is normally open and controlled by ECA signals. With the ignition switch in the "ON" position and coolant temperature in the radiator below 63°F (17°C), the ECA activates the control solenoid and shuts-off vacuum passage to the EGR valve. This prevents EGR flow into the intake system during cold engine operating conditions. The ECA returns the control solenoid to the normally open position when coolant temperature is above 63°F (17°C).
