Engine Cooling Fan: Description

The electric cooling fan system consists of a 2-speed fan on all 2.5L (automatic transaxle), 3.0L, 3.0L SHO and 3.8L engines or a 1-speed fan on 2.5L engines with manual transaxle, and an electric motor attached to a fan shroud located behind the radiator. On 2.5L and 3.0L engines with automatic transaxle, low speed cooling fan motor operation is achieved by using a dropping resistor in series with the motor. All others use a 2-speed fan motor. The electro-drive cooling fan operates only when the ignition switch is in the "RUN" position.
