Brake Light Will Not Go Off

  1. Ensure parking brake is not on. Disconnect Red wire from brake warning light switch, parking brake switch and brake fluid warning switch. Note which switch connector made light go off. See Fig 1 .
  2. Brake warning light switch is a 4-pin wire connector located at ignition switch, right of steering column.
  3. Parking brake warning switch is a single-pin wire connector located at parking brake switch, on parking brake lever.
  4. Brake fluid warning switch is a 2-pin wire connector located at brake fluid level sensor, under brake fluid reservoir.
  5. If brake warning light went out when Red wire was disconnected, replace ignition switch.
  6. If brake warning light went out when parking brake connector Red wire was disconnected, replace parking brake switch.
  7. If brake warning light went out when brake fluid level warning light switch Red wire was disconnected, replace brake fluid switch.
  8. If light does not go off when Red wire is removed from switches, repair Red wire between switches and instruments.
