Low Oil Level Warning Light
- With ignition on, engine off, the lamp should light. If not, check fuse in fuse panel and wiring. Start engine and light will go out if oil level is not low.
- If the oil level is 1.5 qts. (1.4L) or more low, the oil pan sensor will be grounded. This will cause the light to stay on until ignition key is turned off.
- To test oil pan sensor, disconnect wire at sensor and verify proper oil level in engine.
- Connect a VOM to sensor terminal and ground. Reading should be greater than 1000 ohms. Drain 2 qts. of oil from oil pan and recheck. Readings should be less than 1000 ohms.
NOTE:
It may take 5 minutes or more for oil to drain from sensor to get low oil level reading.
