Section 14 (2.8L EEC IV Testing): Testing: Preparation

Correct test results for this system are dependent on the correct operation of several related non-EEC components and systems. All non-EEC problems should be corrected before attempting to diagnose the EEC system.

Before hooking up any equipment to diagnose the EEC system, make the following checks:

NOTE: If vehicle is towed in or is suspected of having intermittent problems, DO NOT  turn the ignition key off. Diagnostic codes may be stored in the continuous testing memory.
