Output State Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1984 Ford Ranger, 1984 Ford Cab & Chassis, and 1984 Ford Bronco II. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- These checks are specified in the testing charts. Output State Test is used to diagnose each actuator. Test is performed in the KEY ON-ENGINE OFF (KOEO) SELF-TEST mode after service codes have been sent. DO NOT disable self-test, but momentarily depress throttle and release. All auxiliary EEC outputs will be activated at this time. Another throttle depression will turn them off.
- Connect DVOM to self-test output pin 4. Start the KEY ON-ENGINE OFF (KOEO) SELF-TEST . When Continuous codes are completed, DVOM will read 0 volts. Depress accelerator to turn on actuators.
- Disconnect DVOM from pin 4 and connect to appropriate actuator. Measure voltage at actuator. Readings above 10.5 volts indicate actuators are on, readings below 2 volts indicate actuators are off. Each test will tell what action to take according to voltage shown on DVOM.
