Fuel Pump: Notes
The 4.9L MPFI engine vehicle is equipped with a low pressure boost pump in each fuel tank plus a high pressure fuel pump mounted on the frame rail.
Vehicles equipped with multiple fuel tanks have a Dual Fuel Reservoir located on the frame rail. The reservoir switches supply and return lines and controls operation of the fuel pump on the selected tank.
NOTE:
When checking suspect electric fuel pumps, ensure inertia switch has been reset and that there is adequate fuel supply. Inertia switch is located inside the cab, on the firewall, forward of the right front door ("E" Series) and on the toeboard to the right side of the transmission tunnel ("F" Series).
