Models With Leaf Springs

  1. Caster angle is adjusted by inserting a shim between the spring and axle. Shims are available in zero, 1 and 2 degree increments. If possible, caster adjustment should always be done on right front axle to avoid changing front driveshaft alignment.
  2. To adjust caster, raise vehicle and support front axles on safety stands. Loosen "U" bolt nuts and spring from axle. Install caster shims between spring and axle.
  3. Position thin edge of shim toward front of vehicle to increase caster, thin edge toward rear of vehicle to decrease caster. After alignment tighten "U" bolt nuts to 105 ft. lbs. (142 N.m).
NOTE: Caster shims installed on left axle will change front driveshaft angle. If shims are used on left axle, drive shaft angle must be checked. Correct side-to-side caster variations by adjusting right axle caster.
