Wheel Alignment Specifications & Procedures: Adjustments: Toe

  1. Start engine and move steering wheel back and forth several times until it is in the straight-ahead position. Turn engine off, and lock steering wheel in centered position.
  2. Check toe reading. If toe is not within specifications, remove bellows seal clamp (if used) and free boot from rod before adjusting toe. Do not allow boot to twist.
  3. Loosen jam nuts and adjust toe to specifications. Hold tie rod with wrench and tighten jam nut to 45 ft. lbs. (61 N.m). Replace bellows and seal clamp (if used) after tightening jam nut.
