Fuel Pressure Regulator
Fuel pressure regulator is integral to upper throttle body near rear of air horn surface. It regulates fuel pressure to injector at constant nominal value of 14.5 psi (1.0 kg/cm2 ). Location of regulator avoids effect of pressure drops in supply line. Regulator is designed so that it is not sensitive to backpressure in fuel return line.
Pressure regulator also maintains residual fuel pressure after engine and fuel pump shutdown. Functioning as downstream check valve, regulator traps fuel between throttle body and fuel pump. Maintaining fuel pressure after engine and fuel pump are turned off minimizes vapor formation in fuel line, allowing for rapid restarts and immediate stable idle operation.
