Instrument Panel Tailgate Switch

  1. Remove switch from vehicle. Use a test lamp or ohmmeter. With switch in neutral position, there should be continuity between terminals 1, 2, and 4. See Figure .
  2. With switch downward, there should be continuity between terminals 1 and 2 and between terminals 3 and 4. With switch upward, there should be continuity between terminals 1 and 3 and between terminals 2 and 4. If switch does not test as listed, replace switch.
