Test R - Temperature Compensated Pump (TCP) Output Circuit Check
- Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Disconnect temperature 6compensated accelerator pump solenoid harness connector. With DVOM on 200 ohm scale, measure resistance of solenoid. If resistance is between 50-100 ohms, reconnect solenoid and go to next step. If less than 50 ohms or greater than 100 ohms, replace solenoid and repeat Self Test.
- Turn ignition on (engine off). With DVOM on 20 volt scale, connect positive lead to vehicle power circuit of solenoid harness connector and negative lead to ground. If voltage is less than 10.5 volts, repair open circuit in harness and repeat Self Test. If greater than 10.5 volts, go to step 3).
- Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Disconnect 60-pin connector 6at ECA and inspect for damage. Connect breakout box and leave ECA disconnected. With DVOM on 200 ohm scale, measure continuity from box pin 54 to TCP circuit at solenoid harness connector. If 5 ohms or greater, repair 66open circuit in harness and repeat Self Test. If less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Breakout box installed (ECA and TCP solenoid disconnected). With DVOM on 200K ohm scale, measure resistance from box pin 54 to box pins 37 and 57. If resistance is 10K ohms or 66greater, go to next step. If less than 10K ohms, repair short circuit and repeat Self Test.
- Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Breakout box installed (ECA and TCP solenoid disconnected). With DVOM on 200K ohm scale, measure resistance from box pin 54 to box pins 40, 46, and 60. If readings are less than 10K ohms, repair short to ground and repeat Self Test. If readings are 10K ohms or greater, replace ECA and repeat Self Test.
