Blower Motor Current Draw Test
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 14 other vehicles, including the 1983 Mercury Zephyr, 1983 Mercury Marquis, 1983 Mercury Lynx, 1983 Mercury LN7, and 1983 Mercury Grand Marquis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Disconnect blower motor wire connector from blower motor resistor. With a jumper wire and ammeter, connect the ammeter in series with blower motor so blower motor circuit runs through ammeter. Ammeter negative lead should be connected to Orange wire terminal. With heater on and engine running, current draw (amperage) should be as specified for each blower switch position.
