Control Switches
Check main feed fuse and stoplight fuse first. If these fuses are okay, proceed with test. Disconnect the 6-pin connector at amplifier assembly. Refer to Fig. Fig 1 And perform the following checks:
- Connect a voltmeter between the light-black hash lead (151) and ground. With ignition on depress the On button and check for battery voltage.
- Connect an ohmmeter between the light-black hash lead (151) and ground.
- Rotate the steering wheel throughout its full range while making the following checks:
- Depress the Off button and check for a reading between 0 and 1 ohm.
- Depress the Set Accelerate button and check for reading between 714 and 646 ohms.
- Depress the coast button and check for a reading between 126 and 114 ohms.
- Depress the resume button and check for a reading between 2310 and 2090 ohms.
If resistance values are within specification, but needle fluctuates, remove the steering wheel and clean the brushes and slip ring surfaces. Apply lubricant ESAM1C189-A or equivalent uniformly, approximately 0.5mm (0.02 inch) thick to slip rings.
If resistance values are above the allowable limits, check the switch assemblies and ground circuit.
Reconnect the 6-Pin connector at the amplifier.
