Fuel System Bleeding
NOTE:
Fuel system must be bled if vehicle runs out of fuel or fuel system is opened.
- With vent screw closed and power to fuel shutoff solenoid, turn ignition switch "ON" and let the electric lift pump run for a few minutes.
- Try to start engine. If engine starts and runs normally, bleeding is complete. If engine will not start or runs poorly, individually loosen coupling nuts on injectors (engine must be running or cranking).CAUTION: To prevent being struck by high pressure fuel, use extreme care when loosening coupling nuts.
- If problem is not corrected, bleed each component of the system (with engine running or cranking) in the following order: Loosen fitting labeled "OUT", timing plug, fuel shutoff solenoid, and injector pressure outlet valves. If engine still will not start, replace the fuel shutoff solenoid.
