Sensor/Solenoid Tests

If system difficulties imply sensor or solenoid problems, suspected components should be checked for resistance value. Component must be disconnected from the circuit before testing. Replace component if resistance is incorrect.

EFI SYSTEM COMPONENT RESISTANCE VALUES

Component (1) Resistance (Ohms)
Air Charge Temperature Sensor
Engine Off 1100-58,000
Engine Running 2400-29,000
Coolant Temperature Sensor
Engine Off 1300-7700
Engine Running 1550-4550
EGR Position Sensor (2)
No Vacuum 5500 Maximum
10 in. Hg 100 Minimum
Fuel Injectors
3.8L 1.5-2.5
5.0L 1.5-3.5
Throttle Kicker Solenoid (5.0L) 50-100
(1) Resistance must be checked at normal operating temperature and harness unplugged from sensor.
(2) Resistance will gradually decrease as vacuum is applied to EGR diaphragm.
