Temperature Compensated Pump
- Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Disconnect temperature compensated pump solenoid connector. Measure solenoid resistance. If solenoid resistance is between 50-110 ohms, connect solenoid and go to next step. If resistance is less than 50 ohms or more than 110 ohms, replace solenoid.
- Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Connect voltmeter negative lead to self-test output connector and positive test lead to battery positive post. Connect grounded jumper wire to self-test input connector. Perform Key On - Engine Off Test until Continuous Test codes are completed. Voltmeter should now indicate 0 volts. Depress and release throttle. If voltmeter reading changed to high voltage, go to next step. If reading did not change to high voltage, depress and release throttle again. If voltage still does not increase, proceed to Output State Not Functioning Test.
- Connect voltmeter positive lead to circuit 361 on temperature compensated pump solenoid and negative lead to pump output circuit 256. While observing voltmeter, depress and release throttle several times to cycle output on and off. If temperature compensated pump output cycles on and off, go to next step. If pump output does not cycle on and off, go to step 5).
- Install vacuum pump to temperature compensated pump solenoid vacuum supply port and install vacuum gauge to output port. Apply a minimum of 6 in. Hg. of vacuum. Depress and release throttle to cycle output on and off. If vacuum output cycles on and off, go to next step. If vacuum output does not cycle on and off, replace solenoid and repeat Quick Test.
- Check that temperature compensated pump vacuum lines are free of leaks, blockage and kinks. Verify vacuum line routing is correct. Repair vacuum lines as necessary and repeat Quick Test. If vacuum lines are OK, check fuel system.
- Turn ignition on. Connect voltmeter positive lead to circuit 361 and negative lead to ground. If voltage on temperature compensated pump solenoid circuit 361 is more than 10.5 volts, go to step 8). If voltage reading is 10.5 volts or less, repair open in circuit 361 and repeat Quick Test.
- Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Disconnect processor and inspect both 60 pin connectors. Connect breakout box to harness, leaving processor disconnected. Measure continuity of breakout box pin 54 to harness circuit 256. If resistance reading is less than 5 ohms, replace processor and repeat Quick Test. If resistance reading is 5 ohms or more, repair open in circuit 256 and repeat Quick Test.
- Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Disconnect processor and inspect both 60 pin connectors. Connect breakout box to harness leaving processor disconnected. Measure resistance of breakout box pin 54 to breakout box pins 40, 46 and 60. If any resistance readings are less than 10,000 ohms, repair harness short in circuit 256 and repeat Quick Test. If all resistance readings are 10,000 ohms or more, replace processor and repeat Quick Test.
