Removal And Installation: Installation

  1. Clean the mating surfaces on the engine block and thermostat.

  2. Install a NEW  seal (1) onto the thermostat.
  3. Connect and lock the engine coolant temperature (ECT) wire harness connector.
  4. Engage the wire harness in the clip on the thermostat.

  5. Install the thermostat and using the sequence shown in illustration tighten the four bolts to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. Connect and lock the engine water heating coil wire harness connector.
  7. Install the heater core hose and tighten the band clamp.
  8. Install the radiator hose and tighten the band clamp.
  9. Install the degassing hose and tighten the band clamp.
  10. Install the battery tray and battery. Refer to TRAY, BATTERY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  11. Install the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  12. Fill the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING THE COOLING SYSTEM - 1.3L .
  13. Install the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BELLY PAN, SIDE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
